The Official Twitter account for the Government of South Sudan has announced that President Salva Kiir has postponed elections earlier set for 2015. It was not clear if this was part of the recently signed peace process with Riek Machar. "Elections will not take place in 2015 - the period has been extended 2 or 3 years because we want to tackle reconciliation among our people," was the message attributed to Salva Kiir. Kiir blasted Machar, saying that "Machar wants to become president of interim government but I am telling him that I was elected to this seat by the people."
