KCSE 2016 RESULTS WILL SABOTAGE THE KENYA ECONOMY

A majority of candidates that sat for the 2016 KCSE exams scored grades D- and E, falling below the threshold for public university placements. Results released by Education CS Fred Matiang'i on Thursday show that 149,929 candidates scored D-, while 33,399 students scored E. Matiang'i said 141 candidates scored As, 4,645 candidates scored A- and 10,975 scored B+. "This is a true reflection of candidates’ result, without manipulation and massaging of the results," the CS said. Matiang'i said all the 88,929 who scored between A and C+ will be absorbed into the universities  Why such a poor performance from our students?Does it mean no standardization of the results was done? If  for instance all students scored below 50% in a certain subject wouldn't some still score A plain? This means grades are not pre-fixed. They are determined at the end of the marking. If that is the case, then  which criteria was used to come up with  only 88,929 students who scored C+

AHMEDNASSIR ON SPEAKER JUSTIN MUTURI

"Never has a Kenyan parliament been led by a more inept, incompetent, dull, unknowledgeable and ignorant Speaker. This is the result you get when greatness is forced on a political dwarf." He shrieks, shrills and hisses when giving orders. His rulings on matters of law and politics from the Chair are superficial and pedestrian. His grasp of law and parliamentary procedure are at best laughable. But it is his partisan and small-minded moderation of parliamentary debates that should alarm Kenyans. Parliament will either shut or suffer mass boycott if Muturi is not replaced as a matter of national priority. He stifles debate. He defines and delimits the tenor and contours of debates. He ignores the Opposition. Parliament is an empty shell!"

"We come here and it looks like we are a state of conflicts this is not the way we conduct business we want to speak without fear."- Senator Minority Leader Moses Wetangula 7. “We were not allowed to come with our cars we want a clarification whether the executive has taken over,” - Senator Janet Ongera 8. “I share the concerns of members but under the poli

THE BURDEN OF A TRIBE

By Serah Kahiu I get shocked every time someone is hostile to me just because I'm a Kikuyu...like WTF I'm I supposed to do about being born as one?! And what's wrong with being proud to be one and to be able to speak and write the language? Makes me wonder if they still would if I got hitched to a Kavirondo brotha and be called Serah Otieno or to a Turkana Oil billionaire (goals) and be called Serah Lakitaung ... Or to a yellow haired, blue eyed odiero and be called Serah Schumacher. Y'all need to get over it and take every individual as they are not as a tribe. I refuse to carry the burden of my tribe... You Don't Have To Steal From The Poor To Rule Them

Renowned constitutional lawyer Philip Murgor recently declared he will run for President in 2017. The 55-year-old lawyer also served as the Director of Public Prosecutions for two years under the Mwai Kibaki regime before he was fired in May 2005.   What is your vision for the country and do you think you will win, bearing in mind that you are new in politics? I stand for a society that has no corruption or impunity, and equality for all regardless of tribe, gender, race, religion or disability. It is my dream that Kenyans feel proud of their own country under my leadership. Kenyans have finally woken up to the reality that tribalism will destroy the country. They must now find a leader that will unite Kenya and I am that leader. Critics say you should have started as an MP or governor before going for the big seat, and that politics in Kenya is not ideology-based. What do you say? I am not interested in politics for its own sake. I have joined politics to provide solutions i

Why Hon. Mpuru Aburi and Mithika Linturi are the Genius in Revenging and Opportunistic Grabbers In Meru Politics

If you follow closely the history of TE Mp Mpuru Aburi you Will realize that he is a genius in politics and applies all tactics to ensure he punishes those Who have once interfered with his ambitions. To start with is worth noting that Mpuru likes doing the opposite of others, Mpuru first won his first seat as a councilor in 1992 in mukinduri area with the little known party in the area Ford-Kenya in the area known for DP. He Lost twice to Peter Munya in 2002 $ 2007 with 130 votes and 80votes respectively where he vied with ODM party, during this time it was alleged that Kiraitu Murungi contributed to his losing since he used to openly campaign for Munya, Mpuru has been having this hatred for long and had to revenge by all means just like he used to do where he has been alleged to have made two chiefs sacked Who used to be threat against his timber selling business before he clinched to his first political post, in this he used to visit the chiefs in their homes without invitatio

HOW TO TRACE A MISSING OR STOLEN PHONE

If you lose your mobile phone, you can trace it without going to the police. Most of us always fear that our phones may be stolen at any time. Each phone carries a unique IMEI no. i.e. International Mobile Equipment Identity No which can be used to track it anywhere in the world. This is how it works: 1. Dial *#06# from your mobile. 2. Your mobile phone shows a unique 15 digit. 3. Note down this number at a secure place except in your mobile phone itself as this is the number which will help trace your phone in case of theft. 4. Once stolen, just E-mail this 15 digit IMEI No. to cop@vsnl.net with details as stated below: Your name:____________________ Address:______________________ Phone model:_________________ Make:_________________________ Last used No.:_________________ E-mail for communication:_____ Missed date:___________________ IMEI No :_______________________ 5.Your Mobile will be traced within next 24 hours via a complex system of GPRS and internet, You will find where your h

ANALOGY OF A TREE

From Tyler Perry I have this tree analogy when I think of people in my life, be it friends, family, acquaintances, employees, co-workers, whomever... They are all placed inside what I call my tree test. It goes like this:   *LEAF PEOPLE* Some people come into your life and they are like leaves on a tree. They are only there for a season. You can't depend on them or count on them because they are weak and only there to give you shade. Like leaves, they are there to take what they need and as soon as it gets cold or a wind blows in your life they are gone. You can't be angry at them, it's just who they are.   *BRANCH PEOPLE* There are some people who come into your life and they are like branches on a tree. They are stronger than leaves, but you have to be careful with them. They will stick around through most seasons, but if you go through a storm or two in your life it's possible that you could lose them. Most times they break away when it's tough. Although t

Hon. Dr. Kilemi Mwiria deeply concerned on the organization of JP activities in Meru

STATEMENT FROM HON. DR.  KILEMI MWIRIA'S SECRETARIAT Subject:  Hon. Dr. Kilemi Mwiria deeply concerned on the organization of JP activities in Meru I belong to Jubilee Party (JP) because it is the party of HE President Uhuru Kenyatta and my aim is to ensure that Uhuru retains the popularity he has continued to enjoy among the Ameru. However,  my supporters and I and indeed supporters of many other aspirants who are in JP, are not happy  with the  way a team of individuals  calling themselves KIKALI are going about the  business of  popularizing the Party. They have been portraying JP as a KIKALI outfit and in the process they have isolated all the other aspirants who are in JP but not in KIKALI.   Of late there has been an exodus of aspirants to PNU and DP who are also gaining popularity in Meru. It is for this reason that I am calling for a round table meeting of all JP aspirants who are as concerned as I am, in order to chart our way forward to avoid a situation where opp

Graduating today? Here are some realities no one will tell you

It is graduation day at my alma mater today. Yes, December, the month of boring nonsense that is graduation ceremonies when no jobs are in sight. Technically, it is kids born in 1992-93 graduating this month, and their sense of reality is misty since they have been pampered to adulthood. But reality is about to rein and rain on them. Listen up, kids. 1. The tax you are about to start paying will be used to pay Adan Duale, Moses Kuria, Johnstone Muthama and Mike Sonko. The rest will be stolen shamelessly by you know who. 2. Use condoms. A 56-pack pamper goes for Sh1,750 at Tuskys and Sh 1,800 at Nakumatt. And kids can’t stop pooping. They diarrhoea half the time, get sick all the time. Without a job or insurance, you will be miserable. Rubber it up, boys. 3. It is better to live in the slum and learn to fend for yourself than to live with a married relative. You will never get along with the wife. Protect your dignity. 4. For men, dating will be impossible if you are broke.

Keep believing in yourself

There may be days when you get up in the morning and things aren’t the way you had hoped they would be. That’s when you have to tell yourself that things will get better. There are times when people disappoint you and let you down. But those are the times when you must remind yourself to trust your own judgments and opinions, to keep your life focused on believing in yourself. There will be challenges to face and changes to make in your life, and it is up to you to accept them. Constantly keep yourself headed in the right direction for you. It may not be easy at times, but in those times of struggle you will find a stronger sense of who you are. So when the days come that are filled with frustration and unexpected responsibilities, remember to believe in yourself and all you want your life to be. Because the challenges and changes will only help you to find the goals that you know are meant to come true for you.

Let go of your stresses

A psychologist walked around a room while teaching stress management to an audience. As she raised a glass of water, everyone expected they’d be asked the “half empty or half full” question. Instead, with a smile on her face, she inquired: ”How heavy is this glass of water?” Answers called out ranged from 8 oz. to 20 oz. She replied, “The absolute weight doesn’t matter. It depends on how long I hold it. If I hold it for a minute, it’s not a problem. If I hold it for an hour, I’ll have an ache in my arm. If I hold it for a day, my arm will feel numb and paralyzed. In each case, the weight of the glass doesn’t change, but the longer I hold it, the heavier it becomes.” She continued, “The stresses and worries in life are like that glass of water. Think about them for a while and nothing happens. Think about them a bit longer and they begin to hurt. And if you think about them all day long, you will feel paralyzed – incapable of doing anything.” It’s important to remember to let go of

__Don’t procrastinate when facts are obvious. To be honest with you, the first time I sold a business, it felt like my heart had been ripped out of my body! Selling a business for the first time is never easy and can leave you emotionally devastated. However, the important lesson of this series is this: The capacity to sell a business is a "rite of passage" to maturity as an entrepreneur! If you’re unwilling to consider selling, let alone actually sell when you have to, then you’re not cut out for the big leagues… Now let's talk: It took me about five years to build my first business. I started building it before I was married and had children. It was everything to me. It was not unusual for me to spend 48 hours at the business non-stop. I was young and bursting with energy, drive, ambition, passion... and I poured it all into my little business. It grew quickly, and soon people heard about me. I had what they call in Africa "a name," and it was because of my

DRINKING WATER ON EMPTY STOMACH IMMEDIATELY AFTER WAKING UP!

Japanese have no problem with drinking water right after waking up. Scientists say this ritual isn’t only clearing your stomach, but also is healthy for the organism, especially for some health conditions like meningitis, arthritis, headache, fast heart rate, diarrhea, vomiting, kidney issues, epilepsy, asthma, diabetes, irregular menses, eye diseases, obesity, etc. this water therapy cleanses the colon and boosts the stomach chances to better absorb the nutrients from food. THE WHOLE WORLD CELEBRATES: CUBAN DOCTORS ACHIEVE CURE FOR VITILIGO

This disease is also known as leucoderma and its main features are depigmentation of skin areas, especially in the face, limbs or genital area. It can spread quickly throughout the skin and de-pigment it completely. The destruction of melanocytes, which are the cells that are responsible for producing melanin, is the cause for this disease. As you know, melanin is the pigment that gives color to our skin. Cuban doctors found the cure. Also, they developed a complete treatment for the disease. If you want to start the treatment, you need to consult the International Clinical Service and to stay in Cuba for minimum 3 days. Six Aspects of Accessible And Friendly Hotels

This year, we celebrate the World Tourism Day (marked every 27th September) by pushing for inclusion and equality for travelers and tourists with special needs such as those with difficulties in mobility and visibility, children and senior citizens who may require special support and all other forms of physical and mental challenges. The World Travel and Tourism Council estimates that about fifteen per cent of the travelling population is in need of special support though both services and facilities, therefore calls sector players to implement strategies and structures that are both friendly and conducive to such needs. As a leading online platform for hotels, Jumia Travel has compiled a list of amenities that should be in a tourism facility as well as a few tell-signs to help travelers identify an accessible property. Provision of ramps and support rails Entry points to hotels as well as partitions and secluded areas can spell trouble for anyone with challenged mobility. Apart from t

LIFE IS LIKE A ROLLER COASTER

Some Of Reasons the Best Employees Quit, Even When They Like Their Job

Losing a great employee is a terrible thing. There's the expense of finding, onboarding, and training a replacement. There's the uncertainty of how a new employee will work out. There's the hardship on the rest of your staff until the position can be filled. Sometimes there's a solid reason--the person was a bad fit for the team, or moved away for personal reasons, or was offered an opportunity too great to pass up. In those cases, even if it's a difficult transition, it feels fundamentally right. But what about the rest? Keeping your best employees starts with understanding why people leave. Here are seven of the top reasons: 1. Stagnation People don't want to think they're locked into a groove and will come to the same place and do the same thing every day for the next 20 or 40 years. People want to feel that they're still moving forward and growing in their professional life. They want to have something to aspire to. If there's no career ladder or

RULES FOR CHANGED WOMEN

1). Never raise your voice for any reason to your husband. Its a sign of disrespect.(Prov 15v1) 2). Don't expose your husband's weaknesses to your family and friends. You are each other's keeper.(Eph 5v12) 3). Never use attitudes and moods to communicate to your husband, you never know how your husband will interpret them.(Prov 15v13) 4). Never compare your husband to other men, you've no idea what their life is all about. 5). Never ill treat your husband's friends because you don't like them, the person who's supposed to get rid of them is your husband.(Prov 11v22) 6). Never forget that your husband married you, not your maid or anyone else. (Gen 2v24) 7). Never assign anyone to give attention to your husband, people may do everything else but your husband is your own responsibility.(Eph 5v33) . Never blame your husband if he comes back home empty handed. Rather encourage him.(Deut 3v28) 9). Never be a wasting wife, your husband's sweat is too precious

CHARACTERS THAT WILL MAKE PEOPLE NOT TO TRUST YOU

Humans are quick to place judgement on someone, and when you have judgment about someone, it’s usually difficult to change your opinion or judgement about that person. Speaking of trust, you are either trustworthy or untrustworthy; it’s people’s judgement about your character which you’ve exhibited, either knowingly or unknowingly that will make them trust you or not. Why do you think you trust someone and cannot trust another person? These characters below make you untrustworthy: 1. YOU ARE SELF-CENTRED I’ve never seen a self-centred person who’s trustworthy. When you are self-centred, you think more about yourself and less of others and would likely jeopardise other people’s interests for yours alone. This will make people not to trust you. Selfish people are never trustworthy. 2. YOU DON’T KEEP YOUR PROMISES Human beings tend to believe what they see. When you say something and don’t do it, you lose people’s trust. 3. YOU LIE Lying will definitely kill the trust people have for you,

The Focused Leader

A primary task of leadership is to direct attention. To do so, leaders must learn to focus their own attention. When we speak about being focused, we commonly mean thinking about one thing while filtering out distractions. But, as intelligent human beings, we can focus in many ways and for different purposes. These modes of attention can be further grouped into three broad buckets—focusing on yourself, focusing on others, and focusing on the wider world—and sheds new light on the practice of many essential leadership skills! using on yourself first, you build up emotional intelligence through self awareness and self control. Focusing on others is the foundation of empathy and the ability to build social relationships. Leaders who focus on others are easily recognisable; they are the ones who find common ground, whose opinions carry the most weight and with whom other people want to work with. Here we deal with the ability of a leader to understand another’s perspective, ability to feel

A BLINDED TRUST

Politicians or others in sensitive positions often place their personal assets (including investment income) into blind trusts, to avoid public scrutiny and accusations of conflicts of interest when they direct government funds to the private sector. Blind trusts are generally used when a settlor (sometimes called a trustor or donor) wishes to keep the beneficiary unaware of the specific assets in the trust, such as to avoid conflict of interests between the beneficiary and the investments.... Mental Blocks Preventing Your Success

The shortest distance between two points is a straight line. Unless our brains get involved. Then we’ll find a way to roam the world looking for complicated alternatives. The mind can catapult us to our greatest hopes and dreams, or it can confuse and torture us until we give up in disappointment. Here are the most common mental battles entrepreneurs face, plus a quick prescription for each. 1. Little think. “You don't think big enough. I think of writing scores of books, a body of work, you procrastinate over a blog post.” -- Alan Weiss We never will hit our milestones if we allow each step to stall us. Overthinking the small things traps us, preventing us from achieving the big things. The enemy of procrastination is now. Make a quick but solid decision, and move forward by leaps. 2. Doubt fires. “Thinking will not overcome fear, but action will.” -- W. Clement Stone When doubt fills our minds, fear dominates our thoughts. Take action and realize that most of your fears are imagi

Social entrepreneurs can change Africa

By strive masiyiwa __There is a social entrepreneur in each one of us, waiting to be unleashed. Last week when I was in Nairobi, I slipped away briefly from the conference on agriculture, which I wrote about in my last post, to visit some young friends, Jessica Posner and Kennedy Odede. I was accompanied by three dear friends and colleagues: David Rockefeller Jr, a philanthropist and conservationist (great grandson of John D Rockefeller, the founder of the Rockefeller Foundation); his wife Susan, a renowned filmmaker; and Josette Sheeran, President of the Asia Society. Josette is also the former executive director of the World Food Program, and sits on the board of AGRA. I'd heard about the extraordinary work of Jessica and Kennedy from my wife. (They’re a married couple -- she from America, and he from Kenya). I was keen to see it for myself! This was not my first visit to Kibera, a sprawling, informal settlement where hundreds of thousands of people live on the outskirts of Nairo

THINGS WOMEN DISLIKE IN BED

It’s not everything you do in the bedroom that pleases your woman. Although, she might keep it to herself, depending on the kind of person she is, there are things you might do that won’t get to her nicely, no matter how harmless the gesture or intentions might be. I have put together a list of six such things, take a look: 1. LONG NAILS Unless you don’t plan on using your hands, which by the way is a very big improbability, then you should never leave your finger nails uncut. And in case you’re still confused as to why this should be a problem to her, well, look at it this way, imagine being scratched on your inner skin with a knife (and that’s just putting it mildly). 2. DON’T USE THE WRONG HOLE Unless of course, you both swing like that, then ignore this, and simply move on to the next, otherwise, don’t even think about it. She’ll probably hate you if you do it. 3. HAIR-PULLING You probably saw it on TV, and thought it’s cool; don’t believe everything you see on TV, most of it is to

RULES EVERY WIFE SHOULD FOLLOW IF SHE WANTS A HAPPY MARRIAGE

Here are 10 rules every wife should observe if she wants a happy marriage 1. Meet your husband’s needs in the bedroom. Just as your husband is expected to satisfy you in bed, you are also expected to do same as a wife if you want a happy marriage. 2. Don’t be the nagging wife. You can’t have a good marriage if you always nag. There’s no justification for nagging. 3. Respect your husband not to yell at him. Yelling at him would never solve the problem but it instead makes things worse. Don’t be the wife that keeps yelling at husband and follows him round the house as he tries to avoid her. You are his wife and not his mother. Talk things gently with him. Yelling solves nothing. 4. Never compare your husband to your friend’s husband. Many wives are guilty of this. Appreciate your husband and be content with what he can provide while supporting him to achieve more out of life. 5. Just as your appearance mattered while dating him, it also matters during marriage. Every wife is expected to

How Cord leader Raila Odinga Tricked President Uhuru During William Ole Ntimama Burial Ceremony

By Jackson Omondi Everything was on point. The Jubilee government lined up their political allstars and even had one of their new converts emceeing the event. Having hosted the Maa community leadership at Statehouse, it was time to go for a slam dunk, or so they thought! The pepertual PR fiends saw an opportunity to show the country that they finally had the Maa community on their palms. But CORD supremo Raila Odinga had other ideas. Buoyed by a thunderous ovation and wild cheering , Raila decided to pull a classic political jujitsu move on Jubilants by using their own perceived strength against them! The President’s handlers picked Nkaiserry to emcee the event hoping that the retired general’s military mien would intimidate Cordashians or anybody who wanted to go against the event’s script but they forgot one thing: THE ENIGMA was also an attendee! Jubilee’s breathtaking naivete would come to the fore when the retired general invited RAO to speak! Aware that he had the whole country g

SILENT SIGNS YOU MIGHT HAVE DIABETES… DON’T JOKE WITH YOUR HEALTH
