Resignation Letter from Commissioner Rosylin Akombe

Resignation Letter from Commissioner Rosylin Akombe: Press Statement by Dr. Roselyn Akombe 17 October 2017, New York For many months now, I have questioned my role as a Commissioner at the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission. But I have soldiered on hoping that we could collectively find a way of addressing the crisis our country faces today. I have agonized over the decision to leave my committed IEBC FIELD staff and my country. My decision to leave the IEBC will disappoint some of you, but it is not for lack of trying. I have tried the best I could do given the circumstances. Sometimes, you walk away, especially when potentially lives are at stake. The Commission has become a party to the current crisis. The Commission is under siege. It has become increasingly difficult to continue attending plenary meetings where Commissioners come ready to vote along partisan lines and not to discuss the merit of issues before them. It has become increasingly difficult to appear ...

North Korea says Trump has ‘declared war’ on his country

UNITED NATIONS (AP) — North Korea’s top diplomat said Monday that President Donald Trump’s tweet that leader Kim Jong Un “won’t be around much longer” was a declaration of war against his country by the United States. Foreign Minister Ri Yong Ho told reporters that what he called Trump’s “declaration of war” gives North Korea “every right” under the U.N. Charter to take countermeasures, “including the right to shoot down the United States strategic bombers even they’re not yet inside the airspace border of our country.” Ri referred to Trump’s tweet Saturday that said: “Just heard Foreign Minister of North Korea speak at U.N. If he echoes thoughts of Little Rocket Man, they won’t be around much longer!” Trump also used the derisive reference to Kim in his speech to the U.N. General Assembly on Sept. 19. The foreign minister opened his brief remarks in Korean by saying that over ...

The victory over Palace also saw United claim their first piece of silverware since the departure of Sir Alex Ferguson, but their triumph at the national stadium looks set to be Van Gaal's last in charge. Van Gaal also refused to comment on his future following the win over Palace, saying: "I show you the cup. I don't discuss [my future] with the me...

TERROR ALERT! AL-SHABAAB planning to strike Kenya on 9/ 21 – Be on the look out

Kenyans have been urged to be extra careful to avoid crowded places and to report any suspicious looking persons following reports that Al-Shabaab terrorists were planning to strike Kenya on 21stof September during the commemoration of last year’s Westgate Mall terror attack that left 70 people dead and scores injured. Credible sources within intel circles say that Al-Shabaab plan to use the day to cause more bloodshed and damage to revenge the death of their leader, Ahmed Godane, who was killed last week in a US airstrike in Somalia. “They are known to use such occasions to cause more injury and sufferings and we urge Kenyans not to ignore the Intel because it is credible. But we are prepared for them,” said Nicholas Kamwende, the Nairobi CID boss. “We are doing our best and we have enough personnel to counter them,” he added. Al-Shabaab have vowed to kill as many Americans as possible be it in Kenya or in the US for killing their leader and as such, their attacks may be targeted on U...

‪BREAKING NEWS FROM SOUTH SUDAN‬‪

The Official Twitter account for the Government of South Sudan has announced that President Salva Kiir has postponed elections earlier set for 2015. "Elections will not take place in 2015 - the period has been extended 2 or 3 years because we want to tackle reconciliation among our people," was the message attributed to Salva Kiir. Kiir blasted Machar, saying that "Machar wants to become president of interim government but I am telling him that I was elected to this seat by the people."

Israel National News: Immense Explosion in Iran May Have Nuclear Origins

An immense explosion has been heard throughout the northern Iranian city of Qazvin, semi-official Fars news agency reported, and many casualties are expected from the blast. Around 1.1 million people live in the city, which is located about 100 miles north of Tehran. The blast may be related to nuclear development in Iran, according to the Los Angeles Times. Iranian officials in the past have strongly denied claims by Mujahedin Khalq Organization, or MKO, a cult-like Iranian exile group, that it has a secret nuclear enrichment facility in Abyek, near the major city, according to the daily. The source of the blast remains undetermined. Several mystery explosions have been reported in the past several years in the region, none of which were ever verified. A fire has now broken out in the city, local reports say, and as many as 50 people are injured. State media blames an oil depot for the blast.
