Kenya is weeping not because of its current occupants, but because of the wrong principles it was founded on

raila.png In his famous quotes, former Germany chancellor and NAZI leader Adolf Hitler once proffered that “By the skillful and sustained use of propaganda, one can make people see even heaven as hell or, an extremely wretched hell as paradise” It is absurd to see poor Kenyans hoodwinked by their tribal chiefs to believe that they are living in paradise yet they go dinnerless and lunchless. My brothers and sisters of this great land of exceptional talents, the home of adeptly incomparable athletes; the ancestral land of outstanding world icons, I greet you all.Fellow Kenyans, what I am writing here today is not burlesque, it is genuine and unadulterated. It is hate-free and it concerns you and me, yes; it concerns the all of us. Our country is bleeding not because of its current occupants, but because of the wrong principles it was founded on. I know and understand that to the countless inconsolable enemies of democracy, this is ugly stuff. This is ugly stuff that the haters of free sp...

Things People in Healthy Relationships Don’t Do

1.They don’t rush the present state of their relationships to get to better times ahead.– The thing about obsessing about a happy ending is that you forget to enjoy the journey along the way. Right now is life… don’t miss it! You need to enjoy the company you care to keep, today, while you’re still guaranteed a chance to do so. 2.They don’t expect their relationships to solve all their problems.– While a healthy relationship can certainly bring joy, it’s not anyone else’s job to fill in your empty inner space. That’s your job and yours alone; and until you accept responsibility for your emptiness, pain, or boredom, problems will inevitably ensue and persist in the relationship. 3.They don’t expect their relationships to be easy.– Long-tern relationships are amazing, but rarely easy. Resisting the hard times and seeing them as immediate evidence that something is wrong or that you’re with the wrong person only aggravates the difficulties. By contrast, finding the willingness to view th...

H.E Raila Odinga’s LETTER to Chief Justice Willy Mutunga

Dr. Willy Mutunga, E.G.H Chief Justice and President of the Supreme Court Republic of Kenya Supreme Court Nairobi Dear Sir, RE: COMPLICITY OF THE JUDICIARY IN SUPPRESSION OF CIVIL LIBERTIES. The CORD fraternity is dumbfounded by news that a court of the Kenya Judiciary has issued an order against the Principals of the coalition ordering them not to convene any mass action in Kenya on the 7th July 2014 and stating that the said Principals shall be personally liable for any damage during the protests they convene. From the very outset I wish to reiterate to you Article 37 of the Constitution of Kenya which states that: “Every person has the right, peaceably and unarmed, to assemble, to demonstrate, to picket, and to present petitions to public authorities”. Mass action is just a common phrase to describe the exercise of this constitutional right and is not a legal principle that can rend itself to interpretation of the court outside the confines of Article 37. It must then be taken to me...

Kenyan musicians cancel Folklife performance in protest of their government

A group of Kenyan musicians scheduled to perform at the Smithsonian Folklife Festival on Saturday in the District canceled a 2 p.m. show to protest their country’s Ministry of Sports, Culture and the Arts, alleging that their members were being denied payment. The artists decided to boycott after discussions with representatives of their government, dismaying dozens of audience members, some of whom had traveled from cities across the country specifically to support the Kenyan musicians. The group — which performs a range of Kenyan music — has been rehearsing for the performance for months. According to a statement members released Saturday, they are demanding payment for their travel and living expenses for the festival as well as respect from their government. Eric Wainaina, a famed musician in Kenya, said he and others wanted to play but also felt as though the ministry and the Kenyan government needed to receive a message. “This dispute is about us resolving sort of systemic malais...
