HIGHLIGHTS OF THE PRESIDENT UHURU ADDRESS ON COVID 19 ECONOMIC STIMULUS


- The govt has rolled out an 8-point economic stimulus program amounting to some Ksh. 53.7 Billion. The first element will focus on infrastructure, a total of Ksh 5 Billion has been set aside to hire local labor to engage in this undertaking.
- Every single week, the govt has been dispatching a total of Ksh. 259 Million to vulnerable families. Money in the hands of a family also restores dignity & not depend on lining up waiting for food relief.
-Govt expected to spend a total of Ksh. 10 Billion in the Kazi Mtaani Programme where they have engaged a total of 26,000 young people and now intend to increase the number to 200,000.
- KSh. 6.5 Billion to the Ministry of Education. The purpose of this is to hire 10,000 teachers and 1,000 ICT interns to support digital learning.
- Ksh. 5 billion set aside to hire local labour for the rehabilitation of access roads and footbridges.
- Ksh. 3 billion for the supply of farm inputs through e-vouchers, targeting 200,000 small scale farmers. Further, under this programme Ksh. 1.5 billion will be set aside to assist flower and horticultural producers to access international markets.
- A total of Ksh 2 Billion will be set aside to support renovation of facilities and the restructuring of business operations by actors in the Tourism industry. Govt. has also set aside to support the operations of our premier hospitality institution, Utalii College, to guarantee the steady supply of well-trained hospitality professionals.
- To mitigate the impact of deforestation and climate change, and to enhance the provision of water facilities,govt. will rehabilitate wells, water pans and underground tanks in the Arid and Semi-Arid areas. Ksh. 850 million
- The govt will engage 5,500 community scouts under the Kenya Wildlife Service at a cost of Ksh. 1 billion. Additionally, support will be made available to approximately 160 community conservancies at a cost of Ksh. 1 billion.
- Govt to buy locally manufactured vehicles worth Sh 600m to promote local car assembly firms

I will tell you what he said about my health at the end, but first read this: Twenty years ago, I arranged to meet a well-known British international businessman who invested a lot in Africa at the time. WHERE TO BUY THINGS AT A BARGAIN IN NAIROBI

 1.Cereals – Get them in Nyamakima in that kichochoro for Molo matatus. Groundnuts from the market cost Sh190 per kilo, but at Nyamakima they are Sh110. You can also get apples and other fruits at a good price. 2.  Diapers and bar soap – OTC. The kichochoro between Tuskys and Equity.  3. Chemicals for homemade detergent, bleach, fabric softener, disinfectant – OTC, the building with Tuskys, go upstairs, first floor. They will even explain how to mix them.  4. Bulk shopping – If you can manage to go to Kawangware or Eastleigh, you will save a lot. In Kawangware, go to Samrose in the market. Alight at Mlango Soko, then at Cooperative Bank, go down and turn at the first right turn, walk about 20 metres and you will find SamRose. Go with a list, they will give you the prices. If you are buying things for a shop, they deliver. Alternatively, you can turn left and walk a bit for like 100 metres where you will find many wholesale shops including FairPrice.
