Kenya GOVERNMENT to recruit ICT Graduates

The Government will soon start hiring Information Communication Technology (ICT) graduates for the Presidential Digital Talent Programme (PDTP).

The programme which is an initiative of the ICT Ministry and implemented by the ICT Authority will provide a one-year internship to young ICT graduates as management trainees in Government. It is intended to help the State meet increased demand for ICT staff while ensuring the trainees gain experience to gainful employment upon completion of the internship.

“The Presidential Digital Talent Programme is as well envisioned as a means of building the next generation of globally competitive ICT leadership and technology talent that will transform Kenya through the world class service delivery to the citizenry,” reads an advert from the ministry.

This follows the Government’s move, through ICT Ministry, to seek expression of interest for a firm to carry out a human resource consultancy for the recruitment of ICT graduates for the Presidential Digital Talent Programme.

“The main objective of the assignment is assist the ministry in identifying suitable ICT graduates in for the PDTP programme in the most transparent, cost effective and efficient method based on established selection criteria for the programme,” reads the advert in part.

Under the programme, the selected firm will be required to advertise for the positions in different channels of communication including on social media and popular job hunting websites – mostly online.

It will also conduct initial screening of applicants against defined selection criteria using web based techniques, provide a merit based shortlist of qualified candidates as well as carry out reference checks and verification of qualifications of the shortlisted candidates.

The winner will also be required to conduct in-depth interviews of the shortlisted candidates based on approved criteria for selection and provide a merit list of successful candidates. According to the brief, the assignment should take not more than six weeks.
