Yesterday, Star Newspaper, read wildly and widely by ‘smart people’ run a lead story that Raila Odinga is erecting a multi- billion shilling 70 room imposing building in Kisumu’s Riat hills which offers a panoramic view of Kisumu International Airport and the city of ‘opposition politics’ and from where the PM would easily ‘run’ the city. However, Raila’s spokesman Dennis Onyango has refuted the claims: “The building appearing in The Star today (Saturday), and which the paper claims to be former Prime Minister Raila Odinga’s upcoming Sh1 billion residence is Kisumu is, in fact, not a home,” reads the statement. “The building is expected to be the headquarters of the Raila Odinga Foundation and its twin institution, Green Outreach Foundation, Africa. Both are yet to be formally unveiled but are currently operating from small offices in Nairobi.Apart from hosting the Raila Odinga Foundation and Green Outreach, the building coming up in Kisumu will also provide conference, media, recreational and office facilities for hire and rental by the public on completion. It will host a Library and archival information covering the timeline of Mr Odinga’s years in public life. We expect The Star to publish appropriate correction,” adds Onyango
