OPEN LETTER TOTRANSPORT AND SAFETY AUTHORITY

To the Transport and Safety Authority. If it is not innuendo. If it is not witch hunting. If the plight of the safety of the Kenyan commuter is what your heart values, you should know by now that Kenyans have died on the road carnage through human error and greed and enough has been enough. The withdrawal of the 100 buses from our public roads belonging to Ummoinner Sacco should not be compromised.Their presentation of 48 buses for inspection, instead of their full fleet of 100 buses is an insult to the Kenyan public and is treacherous.Their full fleet must undergo inspection to certify their road worthiness and all their drivers tested and verified too. Their touts must provide all their documentation without favor before banning the full fleet for a number of years as per the traffic laid down regulations and the directors taken to court and fined heavily.Police should not take bribes to release these vehicles through back door as a lesson to all other saccos and companies that disregard traffic laws.In the same spirit, Nyamira Express should follow suit by availing all their fleet for inspection, all their drivers and conductors for verification and the directors of the company taken to court and fined heavily before banning the buses from our public roads for a number of years. For how long are KENYANS going to die on our roads as the traffic police master in taking bribes as they enrich themselves?

There was total pandemonium as they rushed to get medical assistance. Being London, an ambulance arrived in minutes. I jumped in the back with him as paramedics wrestled to keep him alive. He had had a heart attack and had to have triple bypass heart surgery. Sadly he died a few weeks later. He hadn't been sick and his sudden death surprised everyone. And yet as I reflected on it, and later discussed it with a doctor friend who knew him, I realized he was very laid back about his health despite having a hectic business life. Even during our dinner...
