Interesting things to know about the towel

How often do you wash your towel? Some people wash once a week, while some, once a year. The towel is a fertile breeding ground for millions of microbes, especially those found on human skin and on the gut.  No wonder the towel is one of the objects that facilitate fecal-oral contamination (literally connecting the two ends of the gut).  Worse still, most people keep towels in the bathroom (near the toilet). Every flush of the toilet sends mist with millions of microbes, ranging from H.pylori,  salmonella and other deadly bacteria and viruses. When you wash your hands ready for a meal, and dry them with your body towel, there's high chance you are directly ingesting your fecal matter, or, if in a shared lavatory, someone else's faeces. Kenya Education CS dissolves varsity councils

Education Cabinet Secretary Dr Fred Matiang’i has dissolved all university councils across the country. In a paid advert in the dailies, the CS said the decision follows High Court of Kenya ruling where it nullified the university council of Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology.
Dr Matiang’i now wants new councils reconstituted. He cited among other reasons that the appointments were done in breach of Section 3 of the Universities Act and Article 10 and 232 of the Constitution. The ruling was further upheld by the Court of Appeal.
“The Ministry of Education, Science and Technology notifies all serving members of all councils of public universities , members of the general public and all stakeholders of its intention to reconstitute governing councils of all public universities and constituent colleges,” he noted.
Dr Matiangi said Section 36(1) of the Universities Act 2012 provides that the council of a public university or constituent college consist of nine members appointed by the CS. They include chairperson, principal secretaries for the ministry responsible for education, and finance, five members appointed by the CS through an open and competitive process and the principal who shall be an ex-official member to the council.
He has invited those with qualifications to apply, starting with The University of Nairobi and Embu University College.
